Community Pride

4/2/2024

As you gear up to work on outdoor projects, participate in seasonal recreational activities, or are new to our community, check out the various areas of this website for a plethora of information!

The city ordinances are available, as well as information on building & fence permits; lifetime dog tags; chicken permits; the swimming pool & golf course; public transportation; weekday lunches at the Srader building; fireworks; and more.

Each year we like to remind our residents how thankful we are for the care put into our community, including the upkeep of the businesses, homes, lawns, and sidewalks. With warmer temperatures, the city reminds our residents to review ordinances to assure compliance, as violations can result in fines and/or fees.

Let’s continue to show our community pride by mowing lawns as needed; keeping yards and other visible locations free of trash, salvage, inoperable-wrecked-unregistered vehicles; and working together to keep Smith Center thriving.

Tree & bush trimmings and grass clippings can be brought to the city piles located near the city shop, west of the Armory. To remain in compliance with KDHE, no bags, boxes, or trash are to be left at the site. For trash and other items, the Smith County landfill is located at 20052 150th Road. Contact the landfill at 785-389-1200 with questions on disposal of paint and other household hazardous waste; electronics and vehicle tires.

We would like to encourage all of our residents to make our city a cleaner, safer,

and even more beautiful place to live!
